I believe that God encourages creativity in us. It is a spiritual experience if we are willing.

Kim Valentine at work in home studio. We all lead very busy lives these days. Why does it seem that life was so much simpler years ago? Technology, designed to make tasks easier, seems to have doubled or tripled our to-do lists. The state of the economy is a tremendous source of stress. Being a single mom who works full time is a real challenge. As a director of a non-profit organization I am very busy. Fitting everything I need to do in a mere 24 hour day is close to impossible.

Making art is my oasis, my escape, haven, hideaway, retreat, sanctuary! Sorry, I got carried away, you get the idea. In the midst of everything, I carve out time for my art and it keeps me sane and balanced. I find that when I’m not being creative, I am not a happy camper!

With each canvas I am transported to a world where I think about nothing but the piece of art I am working on. Not the dishes, the laundry, my job, or my bills. It's a glorious place where I'm happy, creative, free and fulfilled. The only demands on me are my own. It’s my personal heaven on earth.
I thank daily God for my gift and hope to praise Him with my creations. I've assigned scripture to some pieces as a reminder that God is the true creator.

I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Some of my work is available for purchase at The Art of Giving, 123 Main St. in Wendell.

"I am still learning"

It is believed that Michelangelo said these words when he was 87 years old!
